A Poem for Daddy

This is a guest post by my daughter Chani. I love that she is exploring creative writing, and she asked to write a poem for the blog today as part of our Daddy-Daughter Day.

In addition to going shopping and to a movie today, I also let her beat me several times at a snowboarding game on XBox (I didn’t really let her beat me - to be honest, she schooled me on it). I was impressed that she wanted to spend time writing, instead of playing video games for hours. I hope that she will continue to enjoy writing as she grows older, as it is something special that we could do together.

Here’s what she wrote:

Daddy

I sit here and daydream
of my future and how it seems.
I see my wedding day with the man of my dreams,
and my daddy grinning at me with glee.
He can see the magic in my eyes,
and I see the achievement in his.
When I see him smile at me with pride,
I think,”If only I could freeze time.”
I love you Dad.
You’ll always be my Hero.

Love,

Your Angel

Thanks Chani! You’ll always be my Angel. I’m very proud of you.

I love you. -Dad

p.s. Please stop scaring me with talk about marriage and boys. I’m not ready for you to grow up!

    1. That is enough to give a man a heart attack. One for being such a thought provoking and thoughtful message from your daughter and the other because I would be polishing the shotgun in front of any young man coming over to hang with my daughter!

      GL and Nice blog!

    4. I thought I was the only dad who feels very uncomfortable when my favorite daughter “gorgeous” told me that she wants to have her wedding in Hawaii.
