Fitness for Dads - Part 3: Chin-Ups
Those darn monkey bars were never my friend when I was a kid. I had friends who could swing off them, hang upside down on them, I even know one kid that could do a 1-arm handstand on them. Me? Not a chance. I could barely get through 2 rungs before my grip would give out and I would come crashing down to the sand.

Fitness for Dads - Getting in Shape: Part 2
In Part 1 of this series we uncovered the 2 most common dads out there. Joe, the “Skinny-Fat Dad” needs more energy and just needs to feel like he’s back in shape. Tim, on the other hand, is our “Former-Athlete Dad” who used to be able to eat whatever he wants and is trying hang on to his former running back self.

Fitness for Dads - Getting in Shape: Part 1
It’s all happened to us before. It’s late at night. You just get home from one of those crazy parties with the in-laws. The kids are asleep in the back (for me, all 4 of them are asleep) and you don’t want to wake them. So now, you have the task of picking them up out of their seats, laying their heavy heads on your shoulder and carrying them from the car into bed. Sound familiar? I do it almost every time we have a family get together.

As most of you know, my wife Lori and I welcomed our baby girl Caitlin to the family three weeks ago. Unfortunately, she hasn’t had an easy road during her first weeks of life, so we’ve been spending most of our time shuttling back-and-forth between the hospital and home.
Throughout this time, as I described [...]
Discovering Dad Diet Plan - Stress Eating
The last few weeks have been very stressful for Lori and I, as our new baby girl Caitlin has been in the hospital ever since she was born. As a result, it has lead to some stress eating. What do I mean by stress eating? Well, for me, that means a constant [...]

OK. So, I was very excited last week to share with you that I had lost 6 pounds in the previous 2 weeks, going from 235 down to 229. Once again, my goal is to get back to 215 pounds, so that the XXL bathing suit doesn’t look like I’m wearing a Speedo [...]

OK. So, I didn’t post anything last week about the size of my butt, which I am trying hard to reduce (along with my gut) before summer gets here. I skipped a post last week due to the What Moms Really Think series and all of the great conversations. No need to [...]

A few weeks ago, I announced that I’d like to lose 20 pounds prior to this summer. I don’t want to feel embarrassed to take my kids to the community pool. I had a hard time dealing with the spare tire and big booty last year, and the fact that I had to [...]

Ughhh! I am so tired of having a spare tire!
Like many grown-ups, I’m trying to lose weight before summer arrives. The community pool opens at the end of May, so I’m running out of time. Last year, I was so embarrassed by my body that I took the kids to the neighbors’ [...]
Going From Buff to Blah
Spring has sprung this week and with it has come a slew of posts from my peers (dad bloggers) about weight loss and getting in shape for the summer. In the past, I have been very concerned about my physical appearance, but I have to admit that things started to change a few years ago.
It’s [...]
