Cleaning Up the Toys - Friday Round-up

You know that feeling you get when you walk in a room and the kids have thrown toys everywhere? I’ve felt like that a lot lately, only it’s not toys strewn about the living room but rather piles of stuff sitting on my desk and an ever-growing ‘to-do’ list.

Normally, I’m a very organized (anal) person, but lately I’ve had a hard time keeping up with things. With everything happening with my daughter Caitlin lately though, I think I’ll give myself a pass and worry about getting completely caught-up within a few weeks.

I did want to share a few fun and exciting things with you though, and I haven’t done a Friday Round-Up in a while, so here you go:

Congratulations to Chuck from D is for Dad for winning the First Prize Nintendo Wii game system in the Bringing Out the Kid in You contest sponsored by Nestle Crunch! Thanks to all of the entrants for sharing such awesome memories of your youth!

Did you know I have a tattoo? Actually, I have three. BusyDad sent me an e-mail saying that I should participate with him in the Tattoo Party hosted by Sonia at and the pursuit of happiness. Can you guess which of the tattoos featured is mine? (Hint: it’s not the one to the left with Lori’s name on it)

Quirkee James from Daddyshack interviewed me for Quirkee online magazine. To my surprise, they ran with my profile as the lead story, which was very cool! If you want to learn a little more about what makes me tick, as well as discovering a great new site, then take a minute to go over and read the article.

My daughter Chani will be here this coming Monday to spend the summer with us. Yeah! She just graduated from Middle School with honors, and I’m so proud of her! We’ve got lots of fun stuff planned for this summer, and I really miss her tremendously. I can’t wait to get some new daddy-daughter blog fodder to share with you. I’m sure we will have some interesting experiences shopping, at the pool and with her new baby sister Caitlin - stay tuned for more!

I haven’t forgotten about the much anticipated What Dads Really Think series, which was supposed to start the same day (5/19) that my daughter Caitlin was born. Based on the tremendous response of the What Moms Really Think series though, I need to run the week-long Dads series at a time when I’m going to be home more. I’m hoping things will be back to normal within a few weeks, so please hang in there and be ready to participate - the Dad’s insights are great, and the Mom’s questions are classic!

Tuesday, June 17th at 1:00 p.m. EST, I am going to be the guest on Soapbox Mom’s weekly radio show. It would be really cool if a ton of people could join in, listen live, send chat questions and even call in to talk to me and Nicole! I feel bad that I’ve had to push this interview a few times, so I hope you all will help me make it a great hour worth the wait! The call-in number is (347) 326-9613. Mark it on your calendar!
Father’s Day is coming up on Sunday, June 15, and I’ve decided to run another contest during the week leading up to this special day for Dads. I’ll post more information about the contest within the next couple of days. It’s another sponsored contest with some very relevant and nice prizes. More to come!
