Dads Favorite Family Vacation Spots

Vacations rock! The travel and lugging all of the kids stuff to-and-from is not so fun, but nothing beats an awesome family vacation. My family and I have been fortunate to go on a few really cool vacations over the past few years, so I thought I’d share some of the highlights.
1. Disneyworld, Orlando, FL – this truly is a place where all of your dreams can come true, even in the blistering 110 degree August heat. We went there last summer with a group of six adults and three kids. We actually went several years ago, just the six adults, but this time was more fun. We stayed near Downtown Disney, and we got the Park Hopper passes to be able to visit each park multiple times. We went to the water parks during the day twice, but it seemed like we went every day with the amount of humidity and sweat! We started each day at around 8:00 a.m., and we rarely got back to the hotel before 9:00 p.m. The kids had an absolute blast, and it was really a special trip for the entire family to connect and have fun. When we were there, they had the Pirates & Princess night with a parade – we all got dressed up for the party! The food and shows were great too! I’d definitely recommend the Hoopty Doo Review. Disneyworld, Orlando, FL – Dad’s Rating = 5 Stars
2. The Breakers Resort, Myrtle Beach, SC – we went here for a family reunion, and it was one of the most fun and relaxing trips we’ve ever had. There was 13 adults and 5 kids in our group, and we were able to comfortably fit into 2 large 3-bedroom suites. If you’ve never been to Myrtle Beach, it is one of the most fun beaches on the East Coast. The dramatic tide, occasional big waves, public piers, entertainment, recreation and golf choices make one week not nearly enough time to enjoy everything it has to offer. My family has gone there many times for reunions, and I have a lot of crazy and fun stories of experiences with my cousins and family members. We made a few more this year too! The Breakers Resort was by far the best hotel we’ve every stayed at there, and it was nice having multiple pools, activities for the kids, a lazy river and an excellent concierge available to us. I would definitely recommend Myrtle Beach National Golf Course, as well as taking the entire family to the Dixie Stampede! The Breakers Resort, Myrtle Beach – Dad’s Rating = 5 Stars
3. Eden Roc Resort, Miami Beach, FL – we decided to use some rewards points and stay in a hotel in Miami Beach last March. My aunt and uncle have a condo in West Palm, and my mom and grandmother were down visiting at the time. The hotel was undergoing some renovations, so it wasn’t quite what we were expecting. The beach and boardwalk were very nice, and the hotel gym was one of the better ones I’ve used. We had a great time, though, going down to South Beach several days, including eating dinner at two different sidewalk cafes. This is where I first noticed my son Ty begin to really people watch – there are all kinds of interesting people in South Beach. The coolest thing was that we were there during Spring Training for baseball, and we got to see several players out at the restaurants. It wasn’t the most action-packed vacation, but it was fun for us all. Eden Roc, Miami Beach – Dad’s Rating = 4 Stars
This year, we’ve got a new baby coming in June, so we probably won’t get to do a family vacation, as most of the family will be coming here to see the baby. So, please share some of your stories with me, so I can live vicariously through you, until our next getaway!

And we have a new grandson coming in May. His name is Jonah.
