Discovering Dad Blog Carnival - July 2008

Dad Sunset small

Welcome to the July 2008 edition of Discovering Dad Blog Carnival.

The Discovering Dad Blog Carnival is a monthly carnival that includes fun and informative posts about unique experiences, perspectives and challenges of being a dad. It also includes posts that talk about the impact of dads on the lives of children, spouses and family members, as well as some general parenting posts of interest.

Whether you’re a dad, mom, grandparent or soon-to-be-parent, this carnival has a variety of interesting and evocative topics for you.

Tony Chen presents Raising Kids of Strong Character: Self-Control | Savvy Daddy posted at Savvy Daddy, saying, “oops - looks like I missed the deadline for June, but here’s a submission for July. A post on how we can raise kids who have a good sense of self-control”

Always Home and Uncool presents Lessons for my son, age 6 posted at Always Home and Uncool: Gen-X work-at-home dadness, saying, “I didn’t even need to make any of these up.”

LiteralDan presents Jackson Day posted at The Wind in Your Vagina, saying, “I know I already submitted for this month, and the other one was from the same blog, no less, but this post is just awesome. I don’t know how else to say it.”

David B. Bohl presents The Difference Between a Dad and a Father posted at Slow Down Fast Today!, saying, “A dad is someone who not only physically helped to create the life of a child, but also supports that child with the basic necessities (food, clothing and shelter) and provides guidance and advice to see his child through life.”

Charlie on the PA Turnpike presents Games kids play posted at Nobody asked me, but…, saying, “Someone recommended this post, so I am submitting it to you.”

Lin Burress presents The Expectant Father: Facts, Tips, and Advice for Dads-to-Be posted at Telling It Like It Is.

Shaheen Lakhan presents Postpartum Depression: Not Just For Moms posted at GNIF Brain Blogger, saying, “Sadly, fathers’ mental health issues are often ignored after the arrival of a new family member. Up to 10% of dads experience postpartum depression — twice the rate of men in the general population — but it often goes unrecognized and untreated.”

Andrew Heath presents Privilege to Be with a Loved One at the Time of Death posted at Andy, saying, “My dad was one of my greatest heroes. This is my tribute to his legacy.”

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of Discovering Dad Blog Carnival using our carnival submission form. Submission deadlines are the 27th of every month.

    1. Wow Jeremy, what an amazing collection of posts! I’ve got my work cut out for me tonight to go through and read all these. I love blog carnivals because it gives ME the opportunity to discover great blogs to subscribe to, link to and participate in conversation. Thanks for hosting this.

I’ve been very curious about how well received blog carnivals are, whether there is much interaction and comments from those who participate or those who regularly subscribe to blogs. I’ve considered hosting my own blog carnival once a month, but am still unsure about how well it is received.
