Discovering Dad has a Facebook Page
Facebook is one of those phenomenons that I was very slow to realize or understand. Even today, my personal profile only has a handful of friends. For me, Facebook is like LinkedIn for personal use. It’s neat how I have been able to reconnect with friends from the past and present on both networks, but there are times when I’d like to separate my personal connections from things that are bigger than me.
Discovering Dad is becoming one of those things, and I’m very excited about it. The dialog about ‘learning what it means to be a good dad‘ is one that I would love to spread beyond my existing sphere of influence; however, I’m going to need help to take it to the next level.
The number one way I believe Discovering Dad will continue to grow is through the incredible engagement of all of you. Nothing beats a positive personal recommendation to a friend or family member. Thank you for spreading the word about this site!
There are many ways, though, to reach new readers and expand a community through social networking. One place that I am already very active is cre8Buzz. In fact, I was recently added to their Buzzboard or member advisory panel. I’ve met many loyal and trusted friends and readers through this community, and I would strongly recommend joining the Buzz.
This brings me to the topic at hand – Discovering Dad now has it’s own page on Facebook:
If you have a Facebook account, please join the Discovering Dad community!
As I said before, nothing beats a recommendation from you to a friend, especially when it comes to things related to being a parent. My goal with Discovering Dad is to expand the conversation around what it means to be a good dad to as wide an audience as possible. I believe that involved fatherhood has the potential of solving many problems in both families and society, so the topic warrants as much genuine dialogue as it can get.
Now that the Discovering Dad site has been redesigned and launched in a more user-friendly and expandable platform, I will be doing several new things to help get the word out and grow the community over the coming months. I could definitely use your help in getting the word out!
Thank you in advance for anything you can do to help me in this process!

Welll…great ideas all-around. How did you start the site for Discovering Dad…I like it…Maybe I will start one for Dad of Divas… give me some insights on that one. I have become a fan on your site and added you as a friend on facebook and Linked In… been trying to do more on the buzz…still not understanding everything that goes into the fluxuations on your ranking…one day you are one rank and the next another… talk about highs and lows.

Thanks Chris! The karma on cre8Buzz is mostly based on how high your content is ranked in each category, e.g. photos, blog entries, videos and podcasts. Then, you get some points for activities, like friending, commenting and other participation. The ranking fluctuates daily because your content rankings are constantly in flux. Makes for a little more dynamic environment in which a few people don’t, in theory, dominate the rank lists, unless they have outstanding content!
