Discovering Dad Pledge to Vote
Voting is one of the most fundamental and important rights within a democracy. It is a way to ensure you have a say in who leads our country, states, counties and cities. As a local elected City Councilman, I can tell you that it is a huge honor to be voted into office by your neighbors and fellow citizens.
As a dad, it is important to me that I role model civic responsibility to my kids, and the first and most important way that I do that is by exercising my right to vote. The second way I do this is by getting informed and understanding the issues and candidates positions on them. The third way I do this is by getting involved.
You can involved too.
Discovering Dad Pledge to Vote Contest
All you have to do is leave a comment with your pledge that you will go to the polls and vote on Tuesday, November 4th.
Now, I would strongly recommend taking the time over the next week to dig deeper into the issues that are important to you and your family. Where do the candidates stand on each of these issues? Which one of them will best represent your position? What can you do between now and November 4th to get involved?
I pledge to all of you that I will be informed and voting. I encourage all of you to join me!
Hachette Book Group has agreed to send 5 random pledgers a package of 10 books related to politics, including The Revolution by Ron Paul, From Hope to Higher Ground by Mike Huckabee, Hard Call by John McCain and Mike’s Election Guide by Michael Moore.
I’d love to see at least 100 dads/moms/readers pledge to vote! Thanks for voting! The contest runs through Tuesday, November 4th.

Defo gonna vote. Here in MA the presidential contest will probably not be much of a contest, but there are three ballot questions that will be hotly contested.
I urge everyone to look beyond the top of the ballot, there may be some very important issues on your ballot (prop 8 in CA!)

I am Canadian so you’ll have to exclude me. However great to read a post that is finally a positive on politics. Kind of sick of hearing how horrible every politician is. I agree get educated and do something about it.
Do what you can to make your country better, VOTE! I voted in our election and I will do what I can to help make our nation a better place.

Hell yeah I’m voting!
We take the kids to the polls with us so they can see the voting process, see how easy it is, etc. If that fails them, they’re stoked that you get free stickers after you turn in your ballots!
Comment by Phil on 24 October 2008:
I’ll be voting! Taking the kids with me too.

My wife and I will be there when the doors open!

I’m definitely going to vote! My state is not even remotely in contention, so I’m probably going to vote third party to express my disgust with the partisanship we’re seeing.
Comment by Kevin T. on 24 October 2008:
I always have and always will vote.
Our daughter will be four days short of nine months old on Nov. 4, and my wife is insisting she goes to the polls with us during this election and every future election so she will always understand and respect the importance of this fundamental right and privilege.

Regardless of Pennsylvania being contested again this season, I would be a fool not vote. Here’s hoping the better team wins.
And by ‘better’, I mean …. well, visit my blog if you want my rants.

Our voting is over since it’s past 8 on the 4th, so I’m probably too late for the contest. Just wanted to say I voted, I always try to vote.
