How Tall Will Your Child Be?

Like most parents, I’m interested in learning about my children’s growth and development. There are many prediction tools available in books and online, but one that caught my eye this week was the Height Predictor at ParentCenter.com.
Based on the entry criteria, my son Ty is predicted to be at least 6 feet 2 inches tall! This is about an inch shorter than me, but 10 inches taller than my wife Lori. The only problem with the calculator is that the earliest age it calculates from is 2-years-old. My son is only 22 months, so the prediction is probably a little on the low side.
The other problem is that the oldest age you can enter is 12-years-old, so I had to go back a few years to get the prediction on my daughter Chani. It is predicted that she will be 5 feet 2 inches tall, which is probably about right considering her petite stature.
In addition to the Height Predictor, ParentCenter has a variety of other useful tools, including Ovulation Calculator, Due Date Calculator, Growth Charts, Child Cost Calculator and Development Calendar.
How tall does the predictor say that your child will be? Check it out and let me know in the comments.

Apparently I need to write more about this topic.

Wow…according to the Web site my poor son will only be 5′ 7″ tall, which is very short. Of course, he is half Filipino, so it does make sense.
Somebody told me that you take a child’s height in inches at age two, double it and add two if it’s a boy or subtract two if it’s a girl and that will be the adult height. If I calculate it that way he’ll be 5′ 10″, which is my height.

I think the site says that it has a couple of different percentages of margin of error because 30% of height will be determined by environmental factors throughout the development period. So, who knows? He could be taller than you with a lot of spinach!
I heard something similar, but it was to double the height at 3-years-old.

I’ve got a 5′8″ and a 6′1″. That, of course, is depending one whether or not I guessed their current heights correctly. I had to go off what I remembered in line for the roller coasters last summer. Bad mommy, I know.

I know what you mean. I had to guestimate my daughter’s height from a few years ago, so she is probably going to say that I sold her short:)
