Spotlight On Dads - New Series Announcement

One of the things that I love most about blogging is the relationships and connections that are built that otherwise would not have been possible. Since I started Discovering Dad, I’ve met hundreds of dads from around the world, and each one of them has helped me discover more about how to be a better dad.

As a way to recognize dads and further build connections, Discovering Dad will publish a weekly Spotlight On Dads series. For now, I’m focusing on including dads that readers can easily connect with through blogs or websites published, so that we can all help each other promote the various online resources available to fathers. As you know, there are not that many good resources out there for us, so we need to rely on each other.

There are a lot of stereotypes surrounding fathers and fatherhood that have been established and reinforced over the years; however, I feel like things are changing. Most of the dads that I meet are very involved in their kids lives, and they deserve to be recognized for their efforts. Television and the media continue to portray us as parenting idiots, and I just don’t see it that way. The Spotlight on Dads series will provide a different perspective.

The first post of the series is planned for Saturday, March 15, 2008. I hope you will check it out and provide feedback.

If you’re interested in participating or nominating a dad for the series, please send me an e-mail at jnbammer@aol.com.
