Thank Goodness My Wife Loves Me Day
Some people call this Thursday Valentine’s Day, but I think a better name for it should be “Thank Goodness My Wife Loves Me” Day! Between me and the kids, she has got her hands full for a very long time. I’m thankful that she not only puts up with us - she actually loves spending time with us!
Here’s some things that I really appreciate about my wife Lori (other than she loves me):
1. She loves my daughter Chani like she was her own. Lori is an outstanding stepmom, kind of like Julia Roberts in that movie the Stepmom. Her family has also treated Chani like the first grandchild or niece of the family too! It’s really amazing.
2. She completes me (stop laughing right now). Lori and I are similar in some very important ways (drive, determination, clean freaks), but we are also extremely different too. She helps me to feel things, when my nature is to be very cerebral. She is extremely sociable, whereas I tend to be a little distant when I first meet people.
3. We are a great team! She understands the things that motivate me, and she enables me to do them.
4. She’s smarter than me, in fact she is smarter than most people; however, she doesn’t ever make me feel stupid. She knows how to treat people with respect and dignity.
5. She’s a great mother, and an extremely pleasant pregnant woman (we’re expecting our second child in June, so she is five months pregnant now). She has a wonderful connection with Ty, and I’m sure she will be the same way with baby Caitlin.
6. She likes to live in a clean and organized house. Clutter drives me nuts, although you couldn’t tell by looking at my office. The rest of the house, though, is immaculate. Lori and I both are compulsive about cleanliness (I might be a little more than she is), and I really like that she is not a slob!
7. She cooks me things that she doesn’t eat. There are very few meals that we eat the same things, but she never complains about me not liking the same foods as she does.
8. She has an extremely good work ethic. Lori is a truly dedicated worker, and I respect that in people very much. She is also a top performer who doesn’t settle for being second best. I love her competitive nature, as long as it doesn’t trickle into our life together (it normally doesn’t).
9. She is a winner. Lori is a winner, and she hates to lose. She doesn’t like to win at all costs, but she is definitely “in it to win it.” I am very similar in this regard, and I hope that this is something that we teach our kids to embrace as well.
10. She is a strong, independent woman. Lori doesn’t need me to survive - she is capable of taking care of herself. She does act like she wants me though, and that’s what I really like. We depend on each other for many things, but we are not dependent on each other to live.
I wonder if I will be able to find any of those little candy hearts with “Thank Goodness My Wife Loves Me” printed on them!?! I better start looking now.
