Thank You for Voting – Get Ready for Change
Thanks to all of you who joined the Discovering Dad Pledge to Vote! This was truly a historic election, and I think everyone will agree that America is about to embark on a new path under the leadership of Barack Obama.
Some say this path will be filled with obstacles and challenges that no one leader could ever overcome; others say that a new era of prosperity and peace will be upon us within the next four years. Either way, things are going to change and it is the result of all of you exercising your right to vote.
The following Discovering Dad readers were randomly selected to win the Pledge to Vote Prize packs from Hachette Books:
Clark
PG
Lee McKusick
Roger
Daniel
All five of you will receive 10 politically-oriented books from Hachette Books USA.
Thanks again for taking the time to pledge and vote! Now, it is important that we all stay engaged and informed as to the new direction Obama decides to take America.
Feel free to share your thoughts about the results of Election 2008!

Thank you Jeremy!
Today, I’m a bit more optimistic about the world my son will grow up in. It’s not going to be easy, but at least we’re changing direction.

Thanks a ton!
It’ll definitely be an interesting 4 years, that’s for sure. At least I’ll have something to read.
Thanks again,
Lee

It was weird waking up with hope and pride- for government reasons anyway. It felt good.

Wow, it’s a trifecta! My guy was elected president, i won Boston Bruin tickets at the PTA raffle at the polling place, and now this!
Whoo-hoooo!
Comment by Joe on 7 November 2008:
He’s not in office yet, and already the “change” has started. Too bad it’s just a party change, and not a change of the way Washington works. Obama voted with his party 96% of the time (wow, more than he accused McCain of voting with Bush!). His new chief of staff? 98.5%. So much for “governing from the center.”
Well, I’ll try to be fair. I’ll do my best to withhold judgment until he’s actually in office. I’m not as hopeful as many others seem to be, but I would LOVE to be surprised. Just not holding my breath. :\

Thank you for randomly picking me. I will enjoy reading the books and will share them with my friends and my blog readers.

Joe, are you a plumber?
Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Give peace a chance, man. You might be pleasantly surprised. Mr. Obama has the opportunity to put actions behind his words. I think he will make a real effort to do so. Not that I expect a rose garden.
Comment by Kevin (ReturnToManliness) on 8 November 2008:
@Joe – True about Obama and Emanual, but they voted for correctly. The idea behind hanging that noose around McCain’s neck was that he aligned with Bush and he is a disaster. It’s not like Obama was accusing McCain of voting 90% with Reagan. I don’t think he could have sold that effectively.
Obama will do some great things and many of it will be stupid luck on his part. Others will have to do with the fact he is inspiring others to do good things. And finally, others because he is a great man.
McCain is an amazing man and it is a shame he took such a low road at the end. He is a MUCH better man than that, but he simply fell victim to wanting to win too much.
In any event, I have friends who did not vote because they were R’s, didn’t like McCain, but couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Obama. Just silly. As long as you voted, you have the right to your opinion and thoughts. Voting now matters more than anything and if Obama does nothing else, he electrified the notion of how important it is to get out there and cast your vote.
