Top 5 Favorite Daddy Daughter Activities
I love it when I get to spend time alone with each of my kids. My oldest daughter Chani and I have always enjoyed our daddy-daughter days, and she wanted to share with me (and you) the activities that she likes to do best. So, I agreed to let Chani do a guest post about it:
Top 5 Favorite Daddy Daughter Activities
1. Shopping - Every girl loves to shop. It is typical of her to get money and spend it in the drop of a hat, but when you have Dad with you, there are many reasons to make shopping that much better. Say you find something you really love, so you “add it to the cart.” When it comes time to pay, Dad is the one to make you smile even wider when he chips in that little bit you were over by.
Dad can also be very helpful when shopping. Bring Dad to the dressing rooms and you have your own personal critic. When trying clothing on, honesty helps. My Dad is very honest. He can sit there and the simplest little look tells all
2. Movies - Ever had that feeling where the girls ask you to go see a chick flick and you get really excited and wanna see it, but something inside of you desperately wants to see the latest action film instead? Yeah, that’s what Dads are for. Movies with Dad give you the time to share laughter, make memories and get your action fix
3. Town Events - My Dad does a lot of stuff with the town we live in. He volunteers to help with a lot of events, and it’s fun to go with him and help. Town events can be hectic, but they can easily turn into great laughs, smiles and Kodak moments. They give you a chance to get out and have fun while meeting lots of people from the area. I especially like to help my Dad hand out free sodas and popcorn at the Movies in the Park during the summertime, and I like the community festivals and parades too. It’s fun spending the time with my Dad, and enjoying the community is a bonus too!
4. Lunch at Chic-Fil-A - Going and sitting down to eat can turn into more than just food, especially when we go to my favorite place Chic-Fil-A. Eating lunch together gives us opportunities to talk. The more you talk, the more you know. The more you know, the more you bond. It’s good to bond over chicken nuggets
5. Outdoor Activities - The thing about outdoor activities is that you have a wide variety of things to do with Dad. Quality time can be spent by taking a hike or walk through the woods and seeing nature. Playing basketball is fun too - it creates a little challenge, and I like beating my Dad at HORSE. Riding quads is the best fun though, and Dad never minds getting a little dirt on him.
These are my Top 5 Favorite Daddy-Daughter Activities. If you have a daughter, maybe she will like to do some of these things with you too. Thank you for letting me share my favorites with you - i <3 you dadddyy[:

Those are all things I like to do with my daughter (although she’s still scared of actual movie theatres, so we usually watch at home) and she’s three. It’s nice to know she won’t outgrow them for a while yet.
Great post, Chani.

My favorite daddy and daughter activity is mealtime. I am very passionate about food and cooking. Now that my daughter is doing less breast and more solids, her horizons look less and less like mountains.
It’s hard to say what daddy and daughter will do together. I know I’m looking forward to those one-on-one activities.
For now, I enjoy every activity we do together, even changing diapers. At one point, I even got her to enjoy the diaper changes too. After pulling the diaper off, she stuck her feet in the air. As soon as I pulled the front of the diaper up into position, she’d throw her legs down to give me access to the tabs on the sides and ensure a good fit.

I agree that Chani should guest post more often.
Elliot - Chani has always been great at mealtime - I wish that would rub off on her brother.

Watch out, Jeremy….someone’s after your job! Great post, Chani! I completely agree that chicken nuggets can truly bring a family together!

O is still too young to do some of these activities, but we have a few more her speed. She loves to sit with me at the computer and find videos of the Tinker Bell and any of the Disney Princesses. I’m also the one to do all the rough-housing with her at home. Anything from hide-and-seek to swinging she comes to me!

I agree…Chani, tell Dad to give you the keyboard more often…great post! Over here, my eldest and I love to do outdoor things…mostly biking, soccer, baseball (or in her case T-ball)….and can’t forget the trips for ice cream!

I’m glad that you and your dad can spend time together. I know my daughter loves to spend time with her dad, too. One of their favorite things to do is bike rides. She also loves to PAINT HIS TOENAILS! in the summertime. Yeah, he’s just that silly. They have a great relationship, and it sounds like you do, too. I’m happy for you, because it means you will have high standards when you choose a husband some day

VERY well written, Chani! Great post.
I am extremely close to my dad and always have been. Even as an adult we still hang out together. And as we’ve gotten older, the time has become more precious because I realize he won’t always be around.

Great list. Thanks for sharing it.
Except for town events, we do the same things. Shopping isn’t a huge attraction yet though (she’s six) and I’m okay with that.

That is so sweet! Great post, Chani! When you get older, some dads like to give you the credit card to go shopping.
LOL! Sorry, Jeremy! Ha!

Great guest post, Chani! Looks like writing is running in the family =)
When my daughter was younger, my husband really didn’t quite know what to do with a girl, as far as activities go. She was a ballerina, and not really into dirt bikes, motorcycles and hunting like her brothers were. However, now that she is older, for the past several years they have really enjoyed kayaking together. Sometimes we all go as a family, but often, it is an activity that the two of them enjoy alone together, and then they will often stop and have dinner or dessert or even just coffee on the way home.
Comment by Jeremy on 17 July 2008:
Lets not talk crazy now - my credit cards are staying with me
