What Moms Really Think About – A Series for Dads

I recently wrote an article that ignited a vibrant dialogue about the relationship between moms and dads. In this article, I was honest and straight-forward about my views, and the respondents were too. There was agreement, disagreement and varying points of view expressed. It was one of the best e-conversations I’ve ever experienced.

One of the main things I discovered is that I don’t know as much about women, moms or my wife, as I thought I did. Rather than be intimidated by this revelation, it excited my curiosity and inspired me to act.

There are many things that I don’t know, which is why I decided to ask some of the coolest moms around to share with me What Moms Really Think about specific topics of interest to dads.

This series is a must read for all Dads.

Over the next five days, you will get the inside scoop on moms from five of the coolest women I know, including my wife. Each of these ladies are smart, funny, passionate and opinionated. They have a variety of backgrounds and experiences. None of them are ‘man-haters.’ All of them are strong enough to speak the truth with positive intent.

These women have kids at home right now, and they are learning as much about parenting as they are themselves at this point in their lives (much the same as me, and many of you Dads, who read this blog regularly).

I hope that you will benefit as much from their insights as I have. I would strongly recommend all dads checking out their blogs to learn more about them too.

Let me introduce you to the series panel:

Kim aka Kimmylyn of Jogging in Circles. Kim describes herself as a quirky 35-year-old mother of two boys (3 and 11 months). She and her husband just celebrated their 4-year wedding anniversary. She says that she is considered a “dork” by her friends, but she’s totally fine with that label.

Jen aka Huckdoll of Huckdoll’s Hood. Jen describes herself as a bad girl, turned good girl, turned career girl, turned mom to identical twin girls, turned stay-at-home mom girl. “I’m all about staying true to yourself after becoming a mother, not losing your identity and not succombing to what society says a ‘mom’ is supposed to be.” She’s been in a common-law relationship with “baby daddy” for seven years, and she’s 28-years-old.

Shannon
aka Mr. Lady of Whiskey in My Sippy Cup. Shannon describes herself as the writer of “the most inappropriate mommy blog on the internetz.” She says that if she has any more kids, then her family will have to move into a shoe. “I am someone’s mother three times over, and someone’s wife; just once, so far. I met a boy in 1996, got him good and drunk, forced him against his will into the front seat of a Nissan Maxima where some grown up activities ensued, and a short time later we had a tax deduction.” She is also a self-proclaimed daddy blog addict.

———————————-

Piper aka Piper of Love of Bliss in Bloom. Piper is a single mom of two boys, ages 8 and 4. She is in her early 30s. She was married for almost 6 years, but she’s been on her own with the boys for the past 4 years. She says that being a single mom is hectic yet rewarding, and she feels like she’s still trying to figure out how to be a mom.

———————————-

Lori aka Mrs. Discovering Dad (she doesn’t have a blog…yet – feel free to encourage her to join us in the comments). Lori is a 34-year-old mother of one boy, with a little girl on the way. She is also a stepmother to a teenage girl and has been in that role for the past 9 years. She is a working mom with a demanding job that requires many hours (60+ per week) away from home. She describes herself as enthusiastic, outgoing, independent, playful and sarcastic. She is a self-proclaimed perfectionist who prefers to always be right.

I also enlisted the help of 3 fellow dads in creating the list of topics for this series. Props to Jim at BusyDad, Tyler at Building Camelot and Jason at Roth Family Adventures – these are all great blogs, and I highly recommend them.

Don’t miss a day of this series! I promise it will be both informative and enlightening, and I hope that it continues to generate great dialogue around the relationships between mom and dad (husband and wife, man and woman).

Your participation in this series is what will make it even better! Now, go check out these ladies sites!
