An e-bike user would ride a bicycle twice than with a traditional bicycle, according to this study
Is the electric bike more physical than you think? We often think that riding an electric bike does not require effort since you are assisted. According to a recent study carried out in Norway, it would seem that our assumptions are false.
In town, there are two schools, those who sweat blood and water on a classic bicycle and those who spin effortlessly thanks to their small electric motor! If the efforts are obviously reduced by 15 to 25% compared to a conventional bicycle, the “e-cyclists” would nevertheless do longer distances… The efforts would therefore be greater. Explanations.
Owners of e-bikes use their cars less because they are motorized. According to this study, people who replace their conventional bikes with an electric one cover 9.2 km per day against 2.1 km. As a result, they use public transport much less and therefore put in more physical effort. Traditional cyclists stay in the saddle an average of 13 minutes per day compared to 30 minutes for e-cyclists.
Most of the time, efforts are made without realizing it! Electric cyclists carry on longer than conventional cyclists. An electric bicycle allows you to pedal in certain circumstances, to tire yourself less, yet the effort is very present.
The study concludes that the physical efforts on an electric bike are ultimately about the same as on a conventional bike … Exercise without feeling the strain or the muscles that are suffering! A good plan for the recovery, no? Do not forget that you can benefit from state or regional bonuses to acquire an electric bicycle… It will also allow you to avoid public transport, the obligatory wearing of a mask and incidentally to find yourself in the middle of the crowd pedestrians !
