The electric bike is perfect when the weather is nice, but when it rains an electric car is better! The German manufacturer Canyon, specialist in electric bikes, presents its new concept. A concept of future mobility that combines an electric car and pedals.

Canyon presents its vehicle of the future as a revolutionary alternative to the bicycle but also to the automobile … A new vehicle that could therefore run on the road since it looks like a car. But, also on cycle paths since it works thanks to the pedals! Weird did you say weird? The temptation is too great not to name it “electric pedal car”!

Concretely, you enter a well-closed panoramic capsule that will protect you from the rain. But, it will be possible to open it when the weather permits. The passenger compartment would even be heated in very cold weather with a system similar to that of combustion cars.

This velomobile, which does not yet bear a name, will measure 2.3 m long and 83 cm wide and can accommodate a driver and a child under 1.40 m. In terms of performance, they announce a range of 150 kilometers for a maximum speed of 25 km / h. Speed approved for electric bikes. On the other hand, “in car mode”, it can reach 60 km / h. Better not to take the wrong route or speed!

It is currently just a prototype that gives rise to further reflection on new urban vehicles. Innovation is necessary, but a bicycle-car does not seem the ideal vehicle, especially if it has access to cycle paths, which, remember, are generally not very wide!
