This European Mobility Week, which was launched on Wednesday, is also an opportunity for the new elected team to recall the first measures undertaken intended to accelerate the ecological transition and the fight against global warming.

Indeed, Michaël Delafosse wishes to promote more virtuous travel on the territory. Thus, on the one hand, since September 5, free public transport has been introduced every weekend for the inhabitants of the Montpellier Metropolis and, on the other hand, a multiplication of transitory cycling facilities has been achieved. in order to widely encourage users to use the bicycle.

During this European Mobility Week, several operations have been devised to allow companies and individuals, in particular, to consider other alternatives to the private car: shared electric car, scooter, bicycle in different variants …

Discovery of electric carsharing

The Montpellier Metropolis makes electric vehicles from the company Modulauto available free of charge to companies in the Eurêka park and the Lauze ZI for two weeks until September 27.

This action aims to promote the practice of carsharing as an alternative to the private car and thus reduce the number of vehicles in circulation. The vehicles made available, 100% electric, are fully in line with the energy transition policy promoted by the community.

Training in the use of new mobility …

The company “TwoRoule”, in financial partnership with the insurer MACIF, will deploy prevention and training in the use of electric scooters as well as in the rules of safety and good conduct to know. A practical exercise track for the general public and a stand for awareness and training in the use of these electric scooters will be installed.

This action will take place on the Esplanade Charles de Gaulle for 2 days, this Friday September 18 and Saturday September 19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

… and the quality of the air

In conjunction with this action, the Montpellier Metropolis, as part of its participation in the 6th National Air Quality Day, will offer an activity intended to raise public awareness of air quality, by illustrating the good practices for combating air pollution.

This stand, run by the CPIE APIEU Territoires de Montpellier in partnership with ATMO Occitanie, will present the regional and local air quality monitoring system, while providing information on health problems related to air pollution and on solutions to improve its quality, through edutainment activities for children and parents.

A role-play on the theme of urban pollution from automobile sources will also provide information to the public about the Carapattes and Caracycles lines offered in several towns in the metropolis and neighborhoods of Montpellier.

Bicycle recycling information

This action aims to make known the support of the Metropolis of Montpellier to the action of professional integration in favor of the use of soft modes of transport carried by the association Recycle & Vous through its Atelier la Fabr’hic in Bike. It aims to encourage the donation of used bicycles by individuals in order to give them a new life.

The action aimed at the general public will be mobile and will take place this Friday, September 18 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the parking lot in front of Paul Valéry University – avenue du Val de Montferrand

Discovery of learning to cycle

Corporate Mobility Plans

Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole enables two companies in the process of drawing up their Corporate Mobility Plans to have their agents try out an alternative ecological mode of travel to the electric car: the Electrically Assisted Bicycle. This year, the companies applying for action are EDF and the ADAGES association. For a week, employees will be able to discover this booming mode of travel.

School Mobility Plans

A new approach has been initiated in favor of parents of young children attending school by making it possible to discover a cargo scooter for children during mobility week.

For a week, two families from Marie Pape-Carpentier school will be able to test and discover an electrically assisted three-wheeler to take their young children to school – a way to show that there are other alternatives to the car .

A meeting day is dedicated to the 160 companies having subscribed to a Company Mobility Plan or engaged in its development was organized on Thursday.
