They can choose the models that best suit them according to their budgets, travel needs and the certified condition of the packs.

High mileage for the Citroën C-Zero
One of the kits we have received will allow us to observe the behavior of a Citroën C-Zero battery (the kit is also compatible with Peugeot iOn and Mitsubishi i-MiEV with 14.5 and 16 kWh battery). in circulation at the end of August 2012 and which totals more than 127,700 kilometers.

Quick recharges for the Soul EV
The Kia Soul EV was bought for medium and long trips. Originally registered in mid-January 2016, its odometer approaches 58,000 km.
Sometimes a week or more goes without driving, but can do hundreds of kilometers during the day when necessary. That’s why he regularly passes through the fast terminals. The Korean SUV, on the other hand, is driven very smoothly in order to border on 200 kilometers on a full recharge. Compare with the 212 km in the NEDC combined cycle announced at the time by the manufacturer.
Most often supplied with electricity when traveling via its 7 kW on-board charger, it only experiences cell balancing (full recharge) occasionally and at least once every 3 weeks.

Presentation of the kits
In the current launch phase, La Belle Batterie offers the kits on its website for 29 euros, compared to 49 euros afterwards.
Sent in a sturdy plastic envelope, the cardboard box houses a box that can be easily connected to the vehicle’s diagnostic socket, a tutorial on a 3-fold leaflet in glossy A4 cardboard sheet, and a stamped envelope. The latter will be used to return the case: an operation that will trigger the sending of the certificate.
Associated with these elements is a smartphone application to download quickly using a QR code to find in the tutorial. This app allows you to retrieve information on cell balancing, uploaded directly to La Belle Batterie.
Steps to follow
The startup asks in the first step to unload the pack under 20%, indicating: last flashing bar for the C-Zero and 3 red bars for the Soul EV. This is what we did, obtaining a range of around 110 km (2 rounds of 30 km each + 40 km in various trips + 10 km still estimated) for the first, and 200 km for the Soul EV (181 km in various movements on axes very loaded with summer visitors).
The Citroën was the first vehicle to be tested. The rest of the scenario went off without a hitch. Downloading the application, locating the diagnostic socket under the steering wheel and connecting the box provided by La Belle Batterie, launching the software, switching on the ignition, connecting the app to the box, and retrieving the data took about 5 minutes in total.
A full 10A battery recharge followed, launched in the evening. A new data recovery operation was then performed the next day at the end of the morning. Last action to be carried out: return the box to the startup using the stamped envelope provided.
Waiting for Soul EV
While the whole process went well for the Citroën C-Zero, we find ourselves momentarily stuck in this same process with the Soul EV.
A “Diagnostic error” message appeared on each of our data recovery attempts. They seemed to be going well.
When contacted, Guillaume Hebert informed us that he had however received the data by remote transmission. During our discussion, we considered several possible causes and a workaround for the issue that could be passed on very quickly.

As soon as we learned that La Belle Batterie was launching a kit to assess the aging of electric car packs, we wanted to assess it.
The first models concerned the Renault Zoé and Nissan Leaf. We therefore waited for versions to be offered for the Citroën C-Zero and Kia Soul, EVs that I have on hand, whose history is known, and for which a battery status check appears to be interesting.
Informed of our interest in its productions, the startup continued to expand its offer by primarily including these 2 electric cars, already identified as having a strong presence on the second-hand market. Hardly realized, the kits for these connected vehicles of Asian origin were sent to us.
In this context of barely making the sets available, the problem encountered with the Soul does not really worry us. A solution will most likely be provided quickly, perhaps even before this article goes live. We can easily imagine a control between the smartphone that hosts the app and the associated EV. Hence a possible anomaly indicated when switching to another model.
During our test, we asked ourselves a few questions which we would have liked to find an answer to on the site in the FAQ section. They concern in particular the compatibility of the kits with the different energy capacities encountered on certain models (example: 16 and 14.5 kWh for the C-Zero), the usable recharging equipment (socket, wallbox, public terminal) to refuel. battery energy, the possible or desired time between recharging and data recovery before and after this operation.
