Chinese brands are now serious competitors to their American counterparts. In telephony, of course, but also in this field of the future that is the electric car. Tesla may have some concern with Xpeng and its P7 Wing electric sedan.

Chinese automaker Xpeng may be unfamiliar to you at the moment, but you probably never heard of Huawei or Xiaomi a few years ago. In other words, Chinese brands are surging in the West and have the potential to carve out a niche among all these American companies, as Huawei and Xiaomi have proven very well. Xpeng’s specialty is electric cars, making it a serious competitor to a certain Tesla, whose boss, Elon Musk, recently rose to second among the richest men in the world (thanks to his Tesla actions in this case).
With the recent launch of the P7 Wing, an electric sedan that can reach 568 km of autonomy (the “Long Range” version can go up to 706 km), Xpeng is at the level of the Tesla Model S. The particularity of Xpeng, is that it is the first manufacturer to develop electric cars with LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) technology. Without going into details, this radar relies on the light and is a real hope for a truly autonomous car.
Obviously, all of this comes at a price, and it’s somewhere between € 47,387 and € 52,734 when it comes to the P7 Wing. That’s significantly lower than the Tesla Model S, so the Chinese automaker has a good opportunity to steal market share from Elon Musk’s baby. Add to that its modern design, state-of-the-art on-board computer (XPILOT 3.0), and 18 Dynaudio speakers, the P7 Wing has a serious chance of standing out. In short, we are likely to hear a lot more about Xpeng in the coming years with its “low cost” electric cars. The manufacturer has also been the subject of very large investments from Xiaomi, a sign of its success.
