You forget about oysters and gingerbread in Place Saint-François when you leave the office. The designer chalet further down, near the Place Pépinet. Children’s entertainment … We forget Bô Noël as we have known it until now.
Given the situation, the organizers have logically given up on investing in the city center with their thematic markets. “The easiest thing would have been to do nothing at all,” explains Florian Schmied at the head of this Lausanne event, which has become essential in six years. But we were keen to support the dynamics of the city, the businesses and the catering sector so affected by the crisis. ” There is no lack of initiatives to keep the magic of Christmas alive.
An important step in the Christmas shopping marathon, the rue de Bourg will be equipped with a magical light installation and disco visible every day after dark. In the Flon district, a giant snow globe will encompass the Esplanade fountain and the village of bubbles which extend from the terraces of the neighboring restaurants.
Bô Christmas at home
Available this year in digital mode on the Bô Noël site, the Designer Boutique presents a new selection. Purchases can be collected at the La Sonnette gallery. Three culinary offers proposed by the main actors of the festival will be delivered to homes: the oyster platters from L’Artisan Glacier, the Terre Vaudoise aperitif boxes (pâté, sausage, flutes, etc.) and a fondue kit in the bread. “The latter includes the mixture of cheeses, the special bread and a special metal diffuser to keep the bread warm,” explains the organizer.
For families, three bright ideas. First, the possibility of boarding a luminous carriage pulled by draft horses to discover the Lausanne Lights Festival 2020, in collaboration with the Savigny manege (three departures per day, from Wednesday to Sunday). Then, the possibility of attending readings of filmed and animated tales, broadcast on the Bô Noël website and Instagram account (from November 25), by the Tree Contes Association. And finally, throughout the Advent period, Bô Père Noël will roam the streets of the Vaud capital on an electric bicycle.
