The Vosges company has just unveiled its 2021 novelties in urban and road electric bikes as well as a double battery electric mountain bike for backpackers.
While bicycles in general, and electric bicycles in particular, have experienced unprecedented growth in recent months, Mustache Bikes is one of the brands, which is more French, which have succeeded. Born there is a ten years ago, the manufacturer specialized in electrically assisted bicycles, successfully declining urban, hybrid, mountain bike and road ranges. Today, the company based in Thaon-Les-Vosges (Grand Est) employs 140 people.
Mustache has just renewed a good part of its catalog, including a long-awaited update of one of its flagship models, the Mustache Lundi, intended for urban use. If aesthetically the new Monday 27 seems very close to the Monday 26 released nine years ago, the manufacturer says it has fine-tuned its geometry by small touches to make it even more comfortable while maintaining the dynamic qualities that have made its reputation. But above all, the battery is now integrated in the lower tube and no longer on the luggage rack. This is a Bosch Performance 400 or 500 Wh depending on the version which remains removable.

The engine is entrusted to Bosch Active Line Plus (Monday 27.1) and Performance Line (Monday 27.3 and 27.5). With the Active Line Plus engine and the 400 Wh battery fitted to Monday 27.1, Bosch announces 66 km of autonomy. It should be noted that these values are purely indicative and do not take into account the technical specificities of the bikes concerned.
Already acclaimed for its comfort and ease of use, the Monday 27 should gain in versatility and stability thanks to its 27.5 inch wheels and tires in 2.40 (Schwalbe Super Moto) which will also facilitate crossing sidewalks, passages on rails. tramway and other paving stones. Saturday 27 Weekend, a VTTAE cut out for adventure
Among the other novelties announced by Mustache, it is a totally different model that caught our attention: Saturday 27 Weekend. This is a full-suspension, dual-battery electric mountain bike that totals 1.125 Wh. This record capacity is divided between a removable Bosch PowerTube 625 Wh battery integrated into the lower tube and a Bosch PowerPack 500 Wh external battery attached to the lower tube above. As an indication, on the range assistant of the Bosch site, the Performance Line CX motor + 625 Wh PowerTube battery assembly is given for 109 km of range for a total rolling weight of 100 kg, a pedaling frequency of 60 rpm and Tour assistance mode. Under the same conditions, the Performance Line CX + engine assembly with the PowerPack 500 external battery is given for a range of 83 km. Here again, these values are purely indicative and do not engage Mustache.

One thing is certain in any case, this VTTAE cut for the adventurous should allow to consider beautiful and long hikes-bivouac over a whole weekend without having to worry about crossing an outlet. And if by chance a boost of energy turns out to be essential, the bike is supplied with a 6Ah rapid charger. The interest of the Samedi 27 compared to a classic touring bike is its full suspension frame with 120 mm of travel at the rear and 130 mm at the front (RockShox 35 Gold RL fork) which will allow it to pass (almost) everywhere and keep well away from asphalt roads.
And if we remove the external battery, we have a good all-mountain type VTTAE for everyday fun on the trails. The Bosch Performance Line CX motor with its torque of 85 Nm promises progressive and punchy assistance. The bike is mounted on 27.5 wheels with Maxxis Rekon 2.60, a tire that both rolls and grips when taking an angle. Braking is entrusted to Shimano M6120 4 pistons and the KS telescopic seat post will be appreciated on downhill slopes.
