Ile-de-France, on your bikes! The Île-de-France region and the cycling collective have just unveiled the routes of the five priority axes of the regional express bike network, the RER-V.
Cycling continues inexorably to interfere in the habits of Ile-de-France residents. To encourage them to adopt bicycles, the Île-de-France region is continuing to create new continuous bicycle routes in the region on the model of public transport. This device, dubbed RER-V – for Regional Express Cycling Network – should be structured around nine long cycle lines that will extend to both sides of the major hubs of Île-de-France. And it is precisely this Monday that the Île-de-France region and the cycling collective have just unveiled the routes of the first five priority axes of the Regional Express Cycling Network, also called RER-V, visible below.
We therefore know precisely the route of these first five priority axes of the RER-V. Line A1 will run from Paris – La Défense to Cergy Pontoise, line A2 from Paris to Marne-la-Vallée, line B3 will serve Paris, Massy, Saclay and to Plaisir, line D1 Paris to Le Mesnil- Aubry via Saint-Denis, and finally line D2 from Paris to Corbeil-Essonnes via Choisy-le-Roi. These tracks should meet “an ambitious technical standard, allowing all Ile-de-France residents to travel safely on this network” explains the Île-de-France region in a press release relayed by 20 minutes. “In a context where Ile-de-France residents favor the bicycle as a daily mode of transport, the Ile-de-France region is continuing the process by launching the first steering committees for the five priority axes, in co-chairmanship with the bicycle collective, thus implementing real launch of works with all of its partners ”specifies the Île-de-France region.
