Buying an electric bike is very trendy, and this year it could be the gift to put under the Christmas trees! There are many aids to the purchase of an electric bike, let’s not forget that the Energy Transition is one of the flagship promises of our policies!
The state has therefore set up national aid to help with this purchase, but the regions are also offering a helping hand to their inhabitants. As most regional aid can be combined with national aid, this can save you a lot of money.

The aid called Bonus Bike has a few conditions to be able to benefit from it.
The buyer must:
Be of legal age, domiciled in France, have a reference tax income per share less than or equal to € 13,489, have benefited from aid for the same purpose, allocated by the local authority or the grouping of local authorities.
The purchased bicycle must:
Be new, without a lead-acid battery, have an assisted pedaling cycle, not exceed 25 km / h, and not be resold within one year of purchase. The bike bonus can only be claimed once. The amount of national aid may not exceed the amount of regional aid and may not exceed € 200 To apply for the bike bonus, go to the Service and Payments Agency website, Bike Bonus section.
In the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region:
The metropolis of Lyon, which includes 59 municipalities, offers a maximum aid of € 500 until December 31, 2020. However, the aid cannot exceed 50% of the purchase price of the bicycle. It can be combined with the State Bike Bonus.

Other municipalities or agglomerations offer aid:
The Bourgogne Franche Comté region:
For the moment no regional aid strictly speaking exists in this region. The initiatives come from the municipalities.
Le Creusot (71) offers assistance of 50% of the purchase price up to a limit of € 300
Nevers (58) offers aid of up to 30% of the purchase price up to a limit of € 200 for a bike whose purchase price is less than or equal to € 1,650
Daix (21) offers help up to € 400.
The Brittany region:
Two aids are offered in addition to the bicycle bonus in the Brittany region:
The Center Val de Loire region:
Two cities offer assistance for the purchase of electric bicycles.
Orleans, which offers assistance of up to € 300 in the form of a check to be exchanged with a reseller in the city. Aid is subject to the family quotient.
Blois (Agglopolys) helps residents up to a limit of € 400 but not more than 25% of the purchase price. Help is provided on presentation of a quote and not an invoice!
Check with your town hall, some also offer assistance with the purchase of electric bikes.
The Corsica region:
A single aid which encompasses the two departments (2A and 2B). The grant is capped at € 500 but the purchase price must not exceed € 2000. As in all regions, there are conditions to be respected such as residing in Corsica for example.

The Grand Est region:
Colmar offers up to € 200 for a first request and € 100 for subsequent ones.
Epinal offers a premium of 20% of the purchase price of up to € 200 for an electric bike or € 300 for a cargo bike.
Epernay offers 150 €
Pays de Sainte Odile helps up to 120 €
The Hauts-De-France region:
No aid has yet been offered by the metropolis of Lille. In this region, only the department of Somme (80) offers aid capped at € 400 (25% of the purchase price).
Some cities such as Arras, Marcq-en-Barœul, Clermont-de-Oise, or even Wasquehal offer various aids that are always good to take.
The Île-de-France region:
It is probably the region that offers the most aids for electric mobility.
Regional aid offers:
50% maximum of the purchase price for an electric bicycle or a folding bicycle with or without electric assistance or even a non-electric cargo bicycle within the limit of € 500
50% maximum of the purchase price for an electric cargo bike up to a limit of € 600
50% maximum of the purchase price for a new adapted bike up to a limit of € 1,200
The city of Paris offers aid set at 33% of the purchase price up to a limit of € 400. It can be combined with regional aid but remains capped at € 500.
The Normandy region:
Caen and Rouen are the two cities to offer assistance with the purchase of Electrically Assisted Vehicles.
Caen contributes up to a maximum of € 250 corresponding to 25% of the purchase price of the electric bike.
Rouen offers assistance reserved for the first 2,000 requests corresponding to 30% of the purchase amount up to a limit of € 300
The New Aquitaine region:
Bordeaux, Poitiers, Basque Country are the places in New Aquitaine which help with the purchase of electric bikes.
Bordeaux Métropole offers a small bonus of € 100 to its citizens, the bonus being reserved for those whose family quotient is less than € 2,200.
Haut Poitou community (31 municipalities) gives a premium of 200 € maximum (and 25% of the purchase price)
Basque Country Community (158 municipalities) offers a premium of 150 to 500 € depending on your family quotient.
Arcachon sets up a bonus of € 200
The Occitanie region:
Regional aid cumulative with state aid is available in this region. It is 200 €. Find the conditions to benefit from it here.
The Hérault department offers a check for € 250 for the purchase of electric bicycles for buyers with modest incomes (less than € 27,086).
Toulouse Métropole offers a bonus of up to € 600 (individuals) or € 1,000 (professionals). The premium is capped according to income (€ 35,052)
Montpellier is offering € 500 in aid up to a limit of 50% of the purchase price of the bike until August 31, 2021.
The Pays de la Loire region:
The Loire à Vélo is so cool! However, the city of Nantes, which offered aid of a maximum of € 200, does not yet know whether it will be renewed in 2021. It is still valid until December 31, 2020. Angers does not yet know whether the aid will be renewed in 2021, until the end of the year, it offers a bonus of € 200 (25% of the purchase price) for an electric bike or € 400 for a cargo bike.
The Provence Alpes Côte d´Azur region:
In the overseas departments and territories:
Papeete in French Polynesia offers a premium of 70% of the purchase price of the bike but it cannot exceed € 250
New Caledonia offers the equivalent of 420 € (50,000 Pacific francs)
This list is not exhaustive, there are probably other aids in certain cities in France, do not hesitate to inquire before purchasing an electric bike. Aid may exist and it would be a shame not to take advantage of it.
