Prices on Uber to increase by 0.03 cents per km to allow drivers to purchase an electric vehicle

From today (Wednesday January 6), the prices of the UberX, Berline, Comfort, Van, Pool, Access and Moto options will increase to allow drivers to acquire an electric vehicle by 2025. This follows the announced last September of Uber’s commitment to reach 50% of electric vehicles by 2025 and 0 diesel vehicles by 2024 in France.

Thus, to encourage its users to use Uber Green, which makes it possible to order a hybrid or electric vehicle, the option becomes the cheapest solution to travel with Uber since it is not affected by the increase in January 6 rate.

Nearly 6 in 10 French people say they are ready to pay a more expensive product or service to act in favor of the environment and 78% of VTC users would be ready to pay more for their trip to support the energy transition. This is why Uber passengers will pay a contribution of 0.03 euros per kilometer added to the price of the trip (except for Uber Green option passengers. Concretely, this means for example:

An increase of € 0.15 on a 5 km journey, such as the 9th arrondissement of Paris – Gare de Lyon.
An increase of € 0.21 for a 7 km trip, type Confluence – Parc de la Tête d´Or in Lyon.
An increase of € 0.75 for a 25-kilometer trip, such as Marseille center – Marseille Airport.

Prices on Uber to increase by 0.03 cents per km to allow drivers to purchase an electric vehicle

This price increase will be 100% dedicated to drivers. Each driver will be eligible for financial assistance to purchase an electric vehicle, and Uber will participate in the same amount when purchasing the vehicle. According to Uber, this represents aid amounting to 75 million euros which will be available to drivers. For example, a driver who uses the app approximately 42 hours per week can expect to receive assistance of around € 4,500 after three years thanks to the joint effort: € 2,250 funded by the increase of 0 , 03 euros per kilometer on each race carried out and 2250 € financed by Uber.
