Founded in 2017, the Californian company Bird is currently one of the world references in the rental of self-service electric scooters. Rather than depending on third-party solutions, it strives to design the means of transport it offers its customers.
So, in 2019, she launched the Bird One electric scooter. Despite its range of 50 km, the latter was impractical due to its weight of more than 15 kg. Added to that was a non-folding design as well as a selling price of over $ 1,000. Seeking to better satisfy us, Bird has just lifted the veil on a less expensive electric scooter and, above all, easy to transport.
A more practical electric scooter
The Bird Air is not only foldable, it is also light. Indeed, it weighs only 13.6 kg thanks to its aluminum structure. Despite its relatively light weight, it still offers a load capacity of up to 100 kg. Its tubeless tires are semi-solid.
On the performance side, the Bird Air has a top speed of 25 km / h and a range of 25 km, half that of the previous model. Although the manufacturer has not specified the power of the engine, this type of machine is generally propelled by a block of 250 W to 300 W. The battery capacity is 180 Wh (36 V, 5 Ah ).
Price and availability
The Bird Air electric scooter also features LED headlights for serene nighttime driving. Braking is of the regenerative type. The company says its new product has received no less than 30 certifications in the United States and around the world. A first for an electric scooter!

Bluetooth connectivity is essential as it acts as a bridge between the scooter and the Bird app. With the latter, the user will be able to unlock, lock, locate and track the Bird Air.
The Bird Air is already on sale on the company website and at Target for $ 599. It comes in two colors: Jet Black and Sonic Silver. Note that Bird is planning an international launch, but it won’t be until November.
